Special Needs Pregnancies

Understanding the additional needs of some pregnancies and deliveries is an important part of pre-natal care. Whether you are expecting more than one baby, are a first time teen parent-to-be or are a returning family - it is important to prepare and become educated on the latest medical information and techniques.

Woman's Hospital provides classes that address the needs of all patients that can be taken over and above the traditional pregnancy and childbirth classes.

Here We Birth Again: Birth Refresher Class for Parents

This class is for expectant mothers or couples who have previously given birth. The instructor will review the signs and stages of labor and coping techniques that can be used during labor; the use of pain medication for labor and birth; the reasons why a cesarean birth might be necessary; and help you to prepare your other children for the arrival of a new baby. $25 per couple. Marvelous Multiples® at Woman's Hospital

Understanding the special nature of multiple pregnancy is an important part of prenatal care. Marvelous Multiples® at Woman’s Hospital is a prenatal education class that offers expectant parents information about many of the aspects of multiple pregnancy and birth that are not covered in the other childbirth education classes. Register as soon as you learn you are pregnant with multiples. This series consists of three, two hour classes; the fourth class is 2 1/2 hours. $85 per couple. Sibling Preparation Classes:

Tyke Hyke, Sibling Preparation for children 3 years old

Tyke Hyke is designed to help prepare your three year old for the new baby and mom's hospital stay. We talk about babies, practice how to hold and take care of the new baby, and take a brief tour of the hospital. Parents should plan to attend with their child. $25 fee per child. A Baby is Coming, Sibling Preparation for children 4 - 8 years old

A Baby Is Coming is designed to help "big brother and sister" learn about the arrival of their new sibling by talking about what new babies are like.The class practices diapering, feeding, dressing and playing with baby dolls. It also includes a brief tour of the hospital and a movie at the end of class about boys and girls having new babies in their families. Parents should plan to attend with their children ages 4-8 years. $25 fee per child. See the upcoming schedule and register online now.

Children At Birth

This class is for families planning to have a sibling present at the delivery. The child will learn about the process of giving birth. Also includes a tour of the hospital and a video of a vaginal birth. Woman's Hospital requires that each child under the age of 14 years have a support person present at all times.
